Khwa Ttu San Culture And Education Centre is a lodge that is located on a privately owned farm, situated 15 km from Yzerfontein. It is ideal for families, groups of friends, or couples looking for a fun break away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Accommodation at the establishment comprises various options. There are 3 houses which are ideal for groups looking for self-catering options and a bush camp with 5 tented stands. The self-catering units feature either 1 or 2 bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a lounge, with either an indoor- or outdoor fireplace. The Bush Camp has 5 tented stands which have access to communal ablution facilities, a central kitchen, and a boma with a fireplace.

Breakfast and other delectable farm-style meals can be arranged at a cost.

For the corporate traveller, the property also has a conferencing room to hire, which can also be used to host various social events. For the adventurous, guided cultural tours, cycling, game viewing, mountain biking, and walking trails can be arranged. The property also features a gallery and a curio gift shop, where one can find many things of interest to purchase.

Bush Camp

Our picturesque, comfortable camp blends into the bush on the coastal plains below the visitor centre.

The camp has 5 large tents. Each tent sleeps 2 people in single beds and has a little lounge area with comfortable chairs and a coffee table. They also have a covered outdoor deck with chairs and a small table. The communal facilities include two delightful indoor-outdoor bathrooms with showers and toilets, a central kitchen and boma with a fireplace. Additional beds in the tents can be arranged.

Guest houses

Up on the hillside, nestled in a quiet spot near our visitor centre, is an old farm cottage renovated into two modern units.

Tasteful décor adds to your experience and excellent 400 percale cotton linen makes for a luxurious night. The sheltered terrace offers stunning views for photographs of the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain. Gathering round the outdoor fireplace under the stars, one can almost imagine being a hunter-gather surveying the coastal plains below for signs of life. Not to worry though, our restaurant is in walking distance and the units are fully equipped for self-catering.

For R1000 per person including breakfast, the guest house has two units, each sleeps 2 people.

Guest house unit 1

  • Open plan lounge and kitchen with separate bedroom and en-suite bathroom.
  • The lounge has an indoor fire place and the kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery.
  • The bedroom has two single beds that can be made into one king-size bed.

Guest house unit 2

  • The lounge, kitchen and bedroom are open plan. The bathroom is en-suite.

Bush houses

Our self-contained, solar powered bush house is tucked away in a peaceful spot on the coastal plains below the visitor centre.

It has a sheltered veranda and outdoor fireplace where you can relax and listen to nature. With walks and wetlands and bird hides, it is a lovely venue from which to explore the unique plants and animals of the area.

For R775.00 per person including breakfast, our bush house sleeps up to 4 and offers:

  • Open plan lounge and kitchen with 2 separate bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom.
  • The lounge has an indoor fire place and the kitchen is equipped with a fridge, kettle, crockery and cutlery.
  • The main bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom has two single beds.
  • Wi-Fi access is complimentary.
  • Towels are provided.

Please note:

  • A sleeper couch and additional mattresses can be provided for children under 12. The Bush house is a electricity-wise unit powered solely by its own solar-panels cum invertor. This fact has no influence on the level of comfort; not even in winter. There is however one compromise to be made as a result of the use of solar-power: hair-dryers swallow too much current and cannot be used. Hot water, burner and fridge is gas operated.
  • Wi-Fi access is complimentary

Bush Lodge

Our picturesque, comfortable and private camp blends into the bush on the coastal plains below the visitor centre.

The camp has 4 large tents. Each tent sleeps 2 people in single beds and has a little lounge area with comfortable chairs and a coffee table as well as an open air rock en suite toilet and shower and toilet .They also have a covered outdoor deck with a small kitchenette which includes a bar fridge; a gas stove and a basin. Each tent has its own private braai area. Additional mattresses in the tents can be arranged to accommodate kids.
