Definitely a combination of spectacular views, true San-hospitality, fantastic food experiences, local conversation and wine. We were part of a select Yzerfontein few, to experience a VIP BAB (Bring and Braai) experience at !Khwa ttu. What an evening…
We kicked off with a tractor ride up the slope to the Private Boma. Our San Guide, Matios Sibongo, took us along the perfectly planned route for closeup encounters with Zebra and Eland whilst following the route further afield into the Nature Reserve.
The route, the animals and the views are simply breathtaking.
We were welcomed by our host, Michael Daiber, with refreshing local drinks for all ages and tastes. Platters with freshly baked “plaasbrood” (farm-style bread), Eland carpaccio, Eland biltong, !Khwa ttu’s homemade chutney and locally sourced butter had all guest chewing jubilantly whilst enjoying the sunset! Don’t get me started on those little slow-roasted Springbok braai-pie’s!
Every ingredient… -the whole experience perfectly crafted to suite every personal taste! As night began to fall, we were gathered up and taken to the Tented Bush Camp.
By now, all guests were aquatinted, chatting, children laughing and playing and the fires burning. Each pair of guests brought their own little something that was shared amongst the crowd.
Our specialty, of course, was our Pomegranate marinated Quail and goat’s milk Malva pudding with a goat milk Ricotta cream sauce. Other show stoppers were Sakkie’s boerewors and homemade spice, roosterkoeke and !Khwa ttu’s own Eland steaks.
What a feast!
As the event drew to a close, we were thanked by one of the organizers, Karen Schräder (Yzerfontein Accommodation) and was reminded of the importance of supporting local.
Each contributor and guest of the evening was a local business being represented with the aim of supporting each other and growing together as a community.
Lifelong friends and connections were made, and this is the beauty of this opportunity!
Thank you !Khwa ttu.
We as a local supplier of Yzerfontein are delighted to take hands with amazing business individuals like these and attending and hosting future events such as this to grow stronger together.
